Memory Foam Futon – A foam futon is a type of bed with a foam mattress. A futon is a bed that can be rolled up or folded up to be stored or turned into a piece of furniture when not used as a bed. Instead of a cotton wadding mattress, a foam futon mattress can be made of latex or viscous-elastic polyurethane, also called memory foam, or even made from natural ingredients like soy.
Many people find that sleeping on a memory foam futon is quite comfortable, and may even help relieve back pain and joint pain. Foam futons are often found in the same shape and size as standard futon mats and sofa futons. These can be in single and double sizes, and can come in shapes as large as an extra large mattress. The futon generally folds into the seat and back of the sofa and once unfolded reveals a double bed.
The materials used in a memory foam futon mean it is often much smaller and lighter than the regular futon, and can be transported more easily. Many foam mattresses are thinner, but have firmer body. Like tight-fit beds, foam mattresses allow the body to sink into the mattress and let the mattress retain its shape without pushing back into the body. The foam is often softer than a regular cotton mattress and can help people with back or stiff neck.
